Choose a partner you'd want to be more like

By: Molly Irizarry

"If people picked their spouses thinking 'who do I want to become like?', they would pick very different spouses."

HOLY SHISHKABOBS!

This was a quote I heard during an interview with entrepreneur Leila Hormozi and her husband Alex Hormozi.

I know I have a spiritual-based women's practice, but the choice we women make in partners can either help or hinder our paths in life.

How many people choose partners they would want to be like? I thought this was an interesting thought.

This implies having a partner you can appreciate and someone you admire for qualities you'd like to inherit for yourself just by being around them.

And don't be fooled: After a long time of being with this person, there is no doubt that whether you mean to or not, you WILL take on some characteristics of that person.

Let's face it, a lot of factors go into choosing a partner.

Perhaps certain standards, shared values, similar personalities, backgrounds, cultures, histories, etc.

Even in Astrology, there are certain markers of compatibility that can be looked at as far as comparing partner charts, also called synastry, where you can see how your planets align.

But being aware to whether or not you'd like to become like your partner is in itself a one sentence rating system!

Or another way to look at it:

If someone told you that you reminded them of your partner, would you take that as a compliment or as an insult?

This is extremely telling.

Now IF you fall into the camp of not having this sentiment about your partner, it is just more information for you to be conscious of.

If your answer to this is "no, I wouldn't want qualities like my partner's", why is that?

This can often disguise one of two main issues:

  1. You feel like you're better than your partner, which in itself means your ego is strong and has to be put in check (No offense).
  2. Your partner genuinely has qualities you could do without.

Both require awareness which starts with asking yourself good questions such as this one.

A partner is the most important life choice you can make (in my opinion).

It is a decision that bleeds into everything in your adult life.

I think its fair to say admiring some of their characteristics and being proud of them rubbing off on you, is critical.

The I Statement Changing your Beliefs is Life-Threatening By: Molly Irizarry If you have limiting beliefs, you have likely built your life based on them. Ever wonder why changing limiting beliefs is so hard? It is because you literally fashioned your entire life based on them!!!! So imagine trying to change them now -- It means everything in your life connected to those beliefs has to change. So let's make an example: Let's say Sue has a fundamental belief that she is not able to make more...

The I Statement How to Release Karmic Debts By: Molly Irizarry If you were given the opportunity to redo your childhood knowing the person you are now, would you keep things the same as they were or change them? 6 years ago, I would've opted to change them in a heartbeat. That was before I understood the laws of Karma aka life lessons our circumstances are intended to help us learn. If you would change your childhood, chances are you haven't learned the lesson behind it: the reason your soul...
